Speedometer Era Begins for Android Auto Users

Speedometer Era Begins for Android Auto Users

Google Maps’ Immersive Navigation feature and Android Auto speedometer are reaching more users. Here are the details about the update.

Google has started to offer the Immersive Navigation feature it announced for the Maps application and the live speed indicator support on Android Auto to a wider user base. Both features are now appearing even on devices that are not registered to beta programs.

Introduced as the biggest update for Google Maps at the beginning of the year, Immersive Navigation offers users more detailed maps and more specific directions during travel. This distribution process, which was quite slow in the beginning, has gained obvious speed in recent weeks.

Deployment process of new features

The Immersive Navigation experience, which was previously only seen in beta versions, is now available to users in stable versions. While Google continues to gradually unlock this feature, it is stated that distribution may vary depending on the region and device used.

It becomes quite easy to notice this change on Android devices. The replacement of the Assistant icon in the upper right corner of the interface with the Gemini icon stands out as the most obvious visual indicator of the new update.

Speedometer for Android Auto

Google Maps also expands the long-awaited live speedometer feature for Android Auto users to a wider area. This feature reflects the current speed of the vehicle to the driver, unlike signs showing speed limits.

The updates in question occur with a server-side configuration offered by Google. This ensures that the features reach the devices regardless of whether the users are in the beta or stable version channels.

Have you started to see these new features on your own devices?
