Samsung Galaxy User Count Exceeds 1.2 Billion

Samsung announced that the number of active Samsung Galaxy users worldwide has exceeded 1.2 billion. Here is the brand’s growth journey.

Samsung announced that 1.2 billion people worldwide are actively using Galaxy devices. This significant milestone was confirmed by the company’s official data on the number of active Samsung Galaxy users.

The company states that this growth is based on a wide range of devices across different price points and constant hardware innovations. In particular, category-defining models like the Note and Fold play a major role in achieving this success.

Wide Product Range and Historical Development

Samsung offers a wide range of products in the smartphone market, from entry-level to flagship models, catering to every price category. This strategy differentiates it from Competitors that focus solely on high-end phones.

The company began this journey in June 2009 with the release of its first Android phone, the Galaxy GT-I7500. The first Galaxy S model, introduced in 2010, significantly boosted the brand’s growth rate.

Introduced in 2011, the Galaxy Note series, with its large screen and S Pen support, became a pioneer in the phablet segment. The Galaxy S II, released in the same year, achieved significant success, reaching over 40 million sales.

In 2012, the Galaxy S III surpassed 70 million sales, solidifying the series’ popularity. In 2014, the Galaxy Note Edge, the first model with a curved edge screen, was released.

In 2015, the industrial design concept was completely renewed with the metal and glass Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge models. These devices also brought the Samsung Pay feature with them.

In 2016, IP68 certification and Dual Pixel camera technology became standard with the Galaxy S7 series. In 2017, Infinity Display and Samsung DeX features were introduced with the Galaxy S8.

In 2018, the One UI interface and 4K 60fps video recording were offered with the Galaxy S9. In 2019, the Galaxy Fold, the world’s first commercially available foldable phone, was introduced.

In 2020, the Galaxy S20 Ultra with a 108 MP camera and 100x Space Zoom features was released. In 2024, the Galaxy AI-powered Galaxy S24 series attracted attention with its promise of 7 years of updates.

Plans for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the first phone with a built-in Privacy Screen, were announced for 2026. This process shows how Samsung manages technological development step by step.

Ecosystem and Security-Focused Experience

In addition to hardware success, Samsung is also developing software solutions that make it easier for users to integrate into the ecosystem. The Smart Switch application makes data transfer from old devices quite effortless thanks to easy QR code installation.

In terms of cross-platform experience, RCS and Quick Share features significantly improve interaction with iPhone users. These tools aim to minimize the difficulties users experience when switching between different devices.

On the security side, Samsung Knox provides defense-grade hardware and software security to protect user data. This system helps devices remain secure in both personal and professional use.

What do you think is the most effective Galaxy feature in Samsung’s ability to reach such a wide user base?
