The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) Energy Transformation Department has published its August 2026 report covering Turkey’s electric vehicle and charging infrastructure information. According to the latest data, the total number of electric vehicles in Türkiye has reached 476,934, while the number of charging points nationwide has increased to 47,908.

This information, which reveals the rapid growth momentum in the sector, proves that interest in electric mobility is increasing day by day. EPDK, particularly emphasizing the value of public-private sector cooperation in expanding charging network infrastructure, predicts that these numbers will increase further in the coming period.

DC and AC Distribution in Charging Stations Determined

Charging infrastructure, one of the most valuable components of the electric vehicle ecosystem, continues to be supported with different technological standards. According to detailed data shared by EPDK (Energy Market Regulatory Authority), 27,044 of the 47,908 charging points established in Türkiye operate with AC (alternating current) technology.

The number of DC (direct current) charging points, which offer faster charging, was announced as 20,864. This distribution shows that the infrastructure has reached a significant capacity in meeting the need for fast charging during long journeys.

Competition Continues Unabated in the Sector

Competition among charging network operators across Turkey is shaped by a user-oriented service approach. According to EMRA data, ZES is the leading company in terms of the number of sockets, while the Trugo charging network implemented by the domestic car initiative Togg is in second place.

Voltrun is in third place, solidifying its position among the leading players in the sector. The interest of domestic and foreign investors in this field is considered one of the most critical factors supporting Turkey’s electric transportation vision.

A Significant Increase Observed in the Electric Vehicle Market

The increase in electric vehicle usage compared to previous years is also confirmed by statistical data. The number of electric cars, which was 14,896 in 2022, increased to 80,826 in 2023 and to 185,513 in 2024, marking a significant jump. Considering that the total number was 373,733 at the end of last year, it is seen that more than 100,000 new electric vehicles joined the traffic in just eight months. This picture reveals that users’ trust in and preference rate for electric vehicles is rapidly increasing.
