New Feature to Prevent Spoilers from Discord

New Feature to Prevent Spoilers from Discord

Discord has introduced its new spoiler channels feature to prevent TV and movie spoilers. Here are the details of the new feature.

Popular communication platform Discord announced a new feature that will protect users from spoilers in content such as TV series or movies. Server administrators can now hide certain channels completely and require members to approve them before viewing the content.

This new feature stands out as an important step, especially for users who do not want to miss the excitement of well-known productions. In this way, Discord aims to make it easier to control the discussions taking place throughout the server.

New channel structure that prevents spoilers

According to the information shared by Discord, server owners can mark text, audio, forum and announcement channels as spoiler channels. When a user tries to log in to these channels for the first time, a warning screen appears containing the name and subject of the channel. At this stage, users can make their own decisions about whether to see the content or not.

Users who approve of viewing the channel do not encounter the same warning screen for that channel again. Discord previously offered spoiler tags for individual posts or images, but this new feature keeps all channel content closed until logged in. This system is similar to Discord’s age-restricted channels in terms of its operating logic.

However, unlike age-restricted channels, this feature does not require a random age verification process. Discord recommends using these channels for plot surprises or sensitive issues, especially in TV series and movies. It is stated that sexual content posts should continue to be kept on age-restricted channels.

Easy suam process for administrators

Server administrators can easily enable this feature via the desktop or web version. The spoiler channel option, located in the content visibility tab in the channel settings, can be activated with a single switch. In this way, server owners can create a more secure and controlled discussion environment for their communities.

Of course, this feature may be insufficient to prevent friends who suddenly share spoilers in public chat rooms. Although Discord cannot technically block all user behavior, it continues to develop server-based containment systems.
