Record Update from Microsoft: 570 Vulnerabilities in Windows Closed

Record Update from Microsoft: 570 Vulnerabilities in Windows Closed

Microsoft closed 570 security vulnerabilities in Windows with the July update. Here are the new features and things to pay attention to.

Microsoft released a new update that fixed a total of 570 vulnerabilities in the Windows operating system as part of Patch Tuesday in July. This number was recorded as the highest measure of security vulnerabilities that the company closed in a single month.

The update is available for Windows 11 25H2, 24H2 and 23H2 versions, as well as Windows 10 users registered in the Extended Security Update program. In order for these necessary updates to be effective, it is sufficient to restart the computers.

Record Increase in Security Vulnerabilities

Among the 570 vulnerabilities closed in July, there were three zero-day vulnerabilities. While two of these vulnerabilities are actively used by attackers, the third has been made available to the public.

Microsoft uses a self-developed scanning tool codenamed MDASH to detect this high number of vulnerabilities. The company states that with the use of such scanning tools, security updates will become more frequent in the future.

Actively exploited vulnerabilities affect Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft SharePoint. The third vulnerability, which targets the BitLocker encryption feature, allows individuals with physical access to infiltrate encrypted drives.

This situation poses a significant security risk, especially for stolen or abandoned devices. Experts emphasize that updates should be installed without delay in order to protect the systems.

New Features and Performance Improvements

The update not only closes security vulnerabilities, but also brings important improvements to the basic functions of Windows. The Widgets app no longer automatically opens when hovering over the taskbar icon.

File Explorer offers a faster and more responsive experience when connecting virtual drivers. The address bar now supports file paths containing double slashes and quotation marks, providing ease of access.

Bluetooth contact speed and reliability are also increased with this update. While the pairing time of Apple AirPods devices is getting shorter, improvements are being made in the microphone performance of Beats Studio Pro headphones.

Internet Printing Protocol and Windows Ready Print are now used by default for printer installations. This change aims to make the printing process for third-party printers more robust.

Users can now postpone Windows updates not only for a certain period of time, but also until a date of their choosing. This new date setting feature can be used via the pause options on the update screen.

How do you think Microsoft closing so many vulnerabilities at the same time will affect security processes?
