Apple introduces a new feature that automatically groups tabs with Safari 27. Details about the innovations that will be introduced at WWDC 2026 are in our news.
Apple aims to make users’ internet browsing experience more streamlined with the new version of the Safari browser. Safari 27, which is expected to be introduced at the WWDC 2026 event to be held in June, is preparing to offer a new feature that automatically groups tabs.
The Tab Groups feature, which came into our lives with Safari 15 in 2021, is facing a significant update after five years. According to the information shared by Mark Gurman in his newsletter on Bloomberg, there is a new editing option for this feature in the test versions of iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 operating systems.
A new era in Tab Groups
The “Organize Tabs” option added to the tab switch button at the top of the Safari interface allows the browser to automatically categorize tabs. When users activate this feature, the browser automatically groups tabs according to the topics browsed.
Although Apple does not directly define this new capability under the Apple Intelligence brand, a type of artificial intelligence technology is used in the background of the system. The functionality in question follows a working principle similar to the logic that categorizes shopping lists by product types in the Reminders app. Users can continue to edit their tabs manually if they wish.
Extensive operating system updates
This innovation in Safari will be offered to users as part of the 27th generation operating systems that will be unveiled in June. Reports leaked before WWDC 2026 indicate that many different artificial intelligence-focused features will come with iOS 27.
It is said that with iOS 27, users will be able to choose their preferred artificial intelligence model and existing ChatGPT-based capabilities will be expanded. It is also expected that the Visual Intelligence feature will be moved to the Camera application and made more accessible.
The Photos app will also receive comprehensive updates, going beyond the current Cleanup feature. These updates include new tools such as expanding images, reframing, enhancing, and contextual editing.
