Apple officially announced macOS 27 Golden Gate, the new version of its desktop operating system. This new version includes valuable updates in areas such as Apple Intelligence, Siri, search features and parental controls.

The new operating system brings with it a global slider to adjust the opacity of Liquid Glass interface effects. In addition, a more complete appearance is aimed by narrowing the corner radii of the windows.

Design and Interface Innovations

Apple is bringing back some elements from the past in macOS design. In particular, restoring the colors of the sidebar icons is among the notable changes in the user interface.

At this year’s event, Apple chose to focus on cross-platform improvements rather than macOS-specific updates. Features such as parental controls and Screen Time are among the structures updated within the scope of macOS 27.

The new architecture developed for Apple Intelligence and a special Siri application are also modules of the system. These innovations aim to make the way users interact with their devices more fluid.

The search function has been completely rebuilt with an infrastructure that can index all content on the device and add new information to the system almost instantly. Search performance on Spotlight has also been improved for the Photos and Mail apps.

Users can now type Siri AI queries directly from Spotlight. Additionally, more than one document can be selected and Siri can be asked questions about these documents.

For example, a user who selects more than one PDF document can ask Siri to compare these documents. Siri can create a comparison table using the information in the documents.

Intel Boost Ends

The Visual Intelligence feature can now be used on macOS with a special keyboard shortcut. This feature takes the smart capabilities of the entire system one step further.

macOS 27 Golden Gate is the sequel to macOS Tahoe 26, released last year. The Tahoe version caused controversy among users due to its Liquid Glass design.

Tahoe was the last major macOS update released for Intel-based Mac models. With the new version, the support for Intel-based devices officially ends.

A three-year security update was promised for Mac users with Intel processors. This process aims to continue to protect the security of older devices.
