More than a third of new podcasts are produced by artificial intelligence. Check out the latest situation in the industry according to Podcast Index data.
In 2024, Google introduced a new feature that provides audio summaries within the NotebookLM artificial intelligence suite. This feature offered a structure that provided information flow using synthetic sounds and was very similar to the podcast format.
However, today the spread of artificial intelligence-supported podcasts has increased rapidly. According to Podcast Index data, at least one-third of newly created podcasts are now produced by artificial intelligence.
Increase in Artificial Intelligence Supported Content Production
This points to the massive influx of synthetic content being constantly produced on every topic. It is not yet clear who the target audience of these contents is.
Some company executives in the industry make statements showing that these contents are aimed at investors rather than listeners. For example, Jeanine Wright, CEO of Inception Point AI, states that they believe that half of the world’s population will consist of artificial intelligence in the near future.
Inception Point AI currently hosts approximately 10 thousand active shows and produces approximately 3 thousand new episodes weekly. The company is the largest publisher, responsible for 23.6 percent of total new podcast production, according to Podcast Index data.
Audience and Future Expectations
Some of the podcasts produced by artificial intelligence manage to reach a certain audience. Examples such as The Epstein Files, which gained popularity last fall, target listeners looking for information that is stripped of emotion and focused on straightforward facts.

This type of content is seen as a technology designed for users who want to consume information quickly, rather than an artistic production. According to Podcast Index data, 35.4 percent of new podcast broadcasts created in the last day were produced by artificial intelligence, and this rate corresponds to 485 new broadcasts.
How do you think this intense flow of content produced by artificial intelligence will affect traditional podcasting?
