Netflix has launched the Next Story program for local producers and screenwriters. Applications open on September 8th; Selected projects will receive support.
Netflix has announced its new project for creatives in Turkey, “The Next Story: Netflix Project Presentation Day.” This event, to be held in person in Istanbul in 2026, will give local content creators the chance to present their original projects directly to Netflix Turkey and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) content groups. Selected projects will receive development support and move directly to the scriptwriting stage.
Face-to-Face Evaluation and Development Support
At the presentation day organized in Istanbul, participants will present their projects directly to the platform’s top-level election council. Projects that successfully complete the presentation phase will be included in Netflix’s professional content development process. At this stage, producers and writers will collaborate directly with the platform’s creative teams on the script, character dynamics, and other creative materials. Netflix prepares selected projects for the production stage by undertaking the financial and editorial development process.
Who Can Apply to the Next Story Program?
Planned to run for three years, the program targets individuals with experience in the industry but who are not yet in negotiations with Netflix. The basic criteria that candidates must meet are listed as follows:
What Genres Are Accepted?
The platform clearly defines genre restrictions within the application process. Applicants can only participate with original fiction productions. Genres to be considered:
While the original language of the projects must be Turkish, the presentation materials included in the application document must be prepared in both Turkish and English.

Professionals in the field who wish to participate in the program should submit their applications between September 8 – October 6, 2026 through the official address of the platform, www.siradakihikaye.com. Netflix’s Investments in Turkey Expand
The streaming giant, which has brought more than 90 locally produced works to global audiences to date, is focusing on expanding its ecosystem in the Turkish market. The company had previously organized more than 40 free industry training programs in screenwriting, visual effects (VFX), and directing. The Turkey Talent Map initiative, which has been running for two years, continues to bring new names to the region by reaching three more cities in Anatolia this year, following Çanakkale, Mardin, Konya, and Hatay.
