ZES and WAT Mobility signed a roaming agreement for electric vehicle charging stations. Now users of both platforms can use all stations through a single application.
Thanks to this strategic partnership, customers of both brands can now benefit from the stations of both networks without the need to download a different application. “Application crowd” and station access restrictions, which are one of the biggest problems of electric vehicle users, are largely eliminated with this move.
With the roaming agreement signed between ZES and WAT Mobility, the total number of charging points of the two companies becomes accessible to users on a single platform.
Electric vehicle owners can see the stations of the other network, start the charging process and make the payment through the mobile application of the platform they are a member of.
This collaboration aims to use charging infrastructure more efficiently and reduce range anxiety in line with Türkiye’s sustainable transportation goals.
Roaming Era at Charging Stations: Single Application All Türkiye
“Roaming” service in the electric vehicle world actually works with a logic we are familiar with from the telecommunications industry. Just as you can use your own line through different operators when you go abroad, with this cooperation, ZES subscribers can use WAT Mobility points, and WAT Mobility subscribers can use ZES points as if they were on their own network.
ZES, which provides service in more than a thousand locations in 81 provinces across Turkey, expands its coverage area with WAT Mobility stations combined with the energy and technology power of Koç Group, with this agreement. The biggest practicality for users is on the financial side. The obligation to keep separate balances or define a credit card on different platforms ends with this system. At the end of the transaction, billing is managed from a single source through the main platform where the user is registered.
Infrastructure Investments Do Not Slow Down
While electric vehicle sales in Turkey are increasing exponentially every year, it is of critical importance that the infrastructure that will power these vehicles be integrated not only physically but also software. This step by ZES and WAT Mobility sets a precedent for other players in the industry.
ZES, which was implemented by Zorlu Enerji in line with its sustainability vision, stands out with its high-speed (DC) charging stations not only in city centers but also on intercity roads. WAT Mobility draws attention especially with its fast charging units at strategic points and its prevalence in the Koç Group ecosystem. The coming together of two giants accelerates the transition to electric vehicles by minimizing the stress of “finding a charging point” on the roads.
Is Range Anxiety Becoming History?
The biggest obstacle for consumers considering purchasing an electric vehicle is the fear of being “stranded”. However, roaming agreements guarantee that the user will continue his journey even if there is only one brand’s station in a region. This integration between ZES and WAT Mobility also helps to distribute the density at the stations more evenly, especially during busy holiday periods or holiday traffic.
According to information from industry stakeholders, such roaming collaborations are expected to increase in the coming period. The implementation of this model, which is quite common in Europe, in Türkiye brings our country’s electric transportation standards to the global level. These user-friendly approaches facilitate the operational costs and processes of not only individual vehicle owners but also companies that manage electric vehicle fleets.
The Transportation Ecosystem of the Future is Taking Shape
This collaboration is more than just a commercial decision of the two companies, it also has great meaning for Türkiye’s carbon neutral targets. Easier access to charging stations encourages the transition from internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles. The combination of WAT Mobility’s technological infrastructure and ZES’s field experience means increasing alternative solutions in case of malfunctions and increasing service quality.
