After Sony’s Disc Decision, Gamers Turn to PC

After Sony’s Disc Decision, Gamers Turn to PC

The survey conducted after Sony’s decision to remove physical discs reveals that many PlayStation players are considering switching to the PC platform.

Sony’s plan to end the physical disc era in PlayStation games is causing widespread debate within the gamer community. A new survey shows that this strategic decision may have significant impacts on the PlayStation ecosystem.

Many users are planning to switch to the PC platform instead of console due to the removal of physical media support. This situation reveals how preferences in the gaming world have changed with the digitalization process.

Console players are evaluating the transition to PC

According to the survey conducted by Push Square and attended by 6,454 people, 45 percent of the participants stated that it was important to switch to PC gaming after Sony’s decision to abandon physical game discs. While 23 percent of participants stated that they would continue to stay in the PlayStation ecosystem, 15 percent stated that they planned to switch to PC sooner.

41 percent of users considering switching to a PC cited Sony’s move to finalize physical discs as the main reason behind this decision. As a result of these repercussions, the players are trying to make their voices heard by starting a petition titled “Don’t Kill the Disc” on Change.org.

Price factor and future console preferences

Discussions are not limited to physical discs; the prices of new generation consoles also directly affect users’ decisions. In a one-on-one survey of 5,664 participants, only 14 percent of those who stated that they would buy the PS6 on release day if the price increased to $ 1,000 or more remained at the level of 14 percent.

While 29 percent of the participants stated that they would prefer to collect or buy a gaming computer in the face of such a price policy, another 29 percent stated that they were considering skipping the PS6 generation altogether. It should be noted that these survey results reflect a certain user base and do not represent the general trend of all PlayStation users.

How do you think the complete loss of physical game discs will affect the gaming world?
