The Alo 193 Joint Damage Notification Center, implemented by SEDDK, unifies insurance processes after traffic accidents under a single number.
Prepared with the aim of simplifying the complex insurance processes following traffic accidents and preventing fraudulent schemes against citizens, the Alo 193 Joint Damage Notification Center officially launched on September 1, 2026. This system, implemented by the Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Authority (SEDDK), brings all insurance companies together under one roof, digitizing the damage notification processes.
Citizens can now submit their traffic and comprehensive insurance damage claims after an accident by simply dialing 193, without having to search for different companies. This new system eliminates time loss in insurance processes while ensuring a more transparent and reliable process.
Digital Transformation in Insurance Processes with Alo 193
Every application made to the Alo 193 hotline is immediately forwarded by SEDDK to the relevant insurance company, and insurance companies are obliged to respond to the citizen within the next business day at the latest. During the call, insurance company officials provide detailed information about the repair period, fault rate, and expert assessment processes. In addition, critical information is provided to the applicant regarding the necessary documents for compensation payment, the preparation of the accident report, and the calculation of vehicle damage and depreciation.
Applications made through the system are considered to have been made to the Guarantee Fund and the Turkish Motor Vehicle Bureau, as well as the relevant insurance company. The damage repair periods specified in the legislation begin to run immediately with this notification. In cases of technical malfunctions or data loss, no time limit is applied against the applicant. Citizens can also directly complain to SEDDK units about the grievances they experience during the damage claim process through this same channel. To promote the widespread use of the application, it has been made mandatory to add an Alo 193 information notice in at least 14-point font to the front of all insurance policies. With the mobile application and website that will be launched soon, accident information and traffic reports can be uploaded to the system online.
New Era in Depreciation Calculations
SEDDK has implemented a new application as of July 1, 2026, to address grievances regarding depreciation compensation after accidents. Now, the expert assigned after an accident automatically includes the depreciation calculation in the repair report they prepare. This eliminates the need for citizens to make a separate application for depreciation or to authorize third parties to follow the process. The amount of depreciation in the vehicle is determined by the first expert report, and the compensation process is accelerated by allowing citizens to apply directly to the other party’s insurance company.
Official Measures Against Damage Gangs
SEDDK President Davut Menteş emphasized that approximately 1.3 million traffic accidents occur in Turkey annually, and illegal structures profiting from the panic during accidents make billions of liras in illicit profits. Menteş stated that these structures, which present themselves as free damage consultants, collect power of attorney and take the process to court. He added that they aim to reach accident victims before these structures with the Alo 193 hotline. The new system aims to eliminate unauthorized individuals and organizations by enabling citizens to directly access official channels. Do you think the Alo 193 hotline will be sufficient to resolve grievances in insurance processes?
