2 Million Vehicles Will Use It: What Does Stellantis’ New Platform STLA One Offer?

2 Million Vehicles Will Use It: What Does Stellantis’ New Platform STLA One Offer?

Stellantis introduced its new global modular vehicle platform, STLA One, which will be put into operation in 2027. Here are the efficiency and technology details offered by the platform.

Stellantis announced its new global modular vehicle platform called STLA One as part of its major FaSTLAne 2030 strategic plan. With this new architecture, the company aims to reduce complexity in production processes and increase operational efficiency.

STLA One, planned to be commissioned in 2027, combines five different platforms under a single scalable structure. This new platform was designed to cover vehicles in the B, C and D segments.

20% cost efficiency is targeted with STLA One

According to the statement made by Stellantis, the STLA One platform promises 20 percent cost efficiency thanks to its modular structure and battery options. The platform is being developed to support more than 30 different models and is expected to reach a production volume of more than 2 million units by 2035. Stellantis aims to collect half of its total production volume on three main global platforms by 2030 and increase the share of cutting to 70 percent. STLA One is at the center of the company’s strategy to bring hardware and software together on a common technology infrastructure.

The platform is the first infrastructure to integrate Stellantis’ STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit and steer-by-wire technologies. In addition, its structure, which supports 800 volt architecture, aims to provide more competitive charging times for battery electric vehicles and an optimized experience in real usage conditions. This smart battery strategy aims to make the electric vehicle economy more sustainable by reducing battery costs.

Flexibility increases with modular strategy

Stellantis Engineering and Technology Manager Ned Curic stated that STLA One is an example of a truly modular strategy. Curic emphasized that the platform provides the flexibility offered by a multi-power platform without transferring the inefficiencies of one powertrain to another.

A special power-based design approach that optimizes efficiency for each powertrain from the very beginning forms the basis of engineering processes.

This new architecture is considered a critical step towards Stellantis’ aims to increase its cost competitiveness and simplify its operations. In this way, the company aims to close the cost gap with the sector players in Europe.

STLA One, which accelerates development processes and offers economies of scale advantages, plays a valuable role in Stellantis’ future vision.
