WhatsApp is preparing to make a fundamental change in the desktop version of the popular messaging application. Developers continue to work to integrate the Liquid Glass interface, designed specifically for the macOS platform, into the Mac application. This new design language aims to provide a contemporary experience that is fully compatible with macOS 26 Tahoe by increasing the visual consistency of the application. This feature, which is currently in the development phase, stands out as a part of WhatsApp’s strategy to ensure design unity between iPhone, iPad and Mac devices. This design change, which has not yet reached the beta phase, will allow users to experience a more transparent and fluid interface.

Design Language is Being Updated for Mac and iPad

The Liquid Glass design, which WhatsApp has successfully implemented in the iOS version, attracts attention with transparent effects and contemporary lines. The company has kept the old design system in desktop and tablet versions until now. This caused a noticeable discrepancy between iPhone users and users on other devices. Side Menu and Chat Tools Are Being Redesigned

Beyond the visual change, structural adjustments are also being made that will increase the functionality of the Mac application. Since the current sidebar consists only of icons, it can sometimes be perceived as complicated. In the new version, a more descriptive sidebar structure will be offered to users, where icons will be accompanied by text labels. In addition, the chat bar and additional menus are being reshaped in accordance with the contemporary lines of the Liquid Glass interface.

Privacy Features Strengthened in Mac App

WhatsApp also raises privacy standards on Mac. Locked chats, which are currently in the direct chat list, are moved to a special section, as in the iPhone application. This new section will be protected in a form that will require user authentication. Thus, it is aimed to create a more secure chat environment for Mac users.

Development Process Continues Rapidly

The Liquid Glass interface is not publicly available now and the development process is being continued meticulously. WhatsApp groups continue their tests to ensure that the application is fully compatible with the new design language. Once the development process is completed, the new interface will be gradually rolled out to reasonable groups of users.
