Spotify is working on new features that will allow you to personalize user profiles. Here are the innovations and social features expected to come to the platform.
Spotify is working on new tools that will allow users to make their profiles on the platform more unique. The codes detected in the application show that the profile editing options that users have been waiting for a long time may soon be available.
Recent investigations by Android Authority revealed traces of a new feature that allows username changes in the Spotify application codes. This new system will allow users to update their usernames within a certain period of time.
Profile personalization and social features
In addition to the username change, Spotify is also expected to make profile bios publicly available. The biography feature, which has only been seen on artist pages until now, will allow all users to more accurately reflect their musical identities.
Findings in the codes indicate that users will be able to edit their biographies and choose who can see this information. These steps are considered part of Spotify’s strategy to expand its social features.
However, there are still important points that need to be improved in the social infrastructure of the platform. In particular, the Notifications tab, which was introduced in August 2025, has some glitches in terms of user experience.
Notification issues in the messages feature can cause replies from friends to be delayed or missed. This shows that the platform’s contact-oriented tools are not working at full efficiency now.
Statistics and social interaction issues
Spotify’s new listening statistics make it easier to see the number of artists and music listened to on a weekly basis. Although users can compare this data with their friends, the process of adding friends still has a complex structure.
Instead of automatically adding followed people to the friends list, the system requires sending special invitations to share statistics. Users state that these invitations sometimes do not reach the recipient or cannot be accepted.
It is thought that these restrictions may have been introduced to encourage users to use the Notifications feature. Current social tools appear to need further refinement to fully meet users’ expectations.
Do you think Spotify’s profile personalization features or the beautification of existing social tools are more valuable?
