Ugreen is bringing a fresh perspective to the world of phone cases with its new Ugreen Magic E-ink Screen Case developed for iPhone Pro models. This accessory both protects the device and promises a customizable experience thanks to the colorful e-ink screen on the back.

Back-mounted phone accessories have become quite popular recently. Ugreen’s new creation allows users to display constantly changing visuals on the back of their phones.

How the E-ink Screen Works

This 3.7-inch color screen supports six different particle colors: black, white, red, yellow, blue, and green. Ugreen states that the panel provides a clear view even under bright light.

Users can select an image from their gallery or create their own designs using the Ugreen application. The image is transferred to the case via NFC technology.

The process draws very little power from the phone’s battery. Once the image appears on the screen, the case doesn’t require any additional power.

The screen continues to display the selected image even when the phone is off. The image loading process takes approximately 20 seconds, and the refreshing screen takes another 20 seconds.

In total, the image on the case is fully updated in 40 seconds. Users who do not want the NFC antenna to remain constantly active can disconnect the connection by long-pressing the button on the right side of the case.

The company emphasizes that this feature does not interfere with contactless payments or card reading processes. Thus, users can enjoy the visual experience offered by the case without compromising security.

Design and Protection Details

The case is offered in three different color options: matte black, mist white, and burgundy. The case is manufactured using a combination of TPU, PC, and microfiber materials.

The device features a metal camera button and a dedicated NFC button on the side. An airbag-like cushioning system is located at all four corners for extra protection against drops.

The edges of the case are positioned 1 mm higher than the phone’s screen and 0.7 mm higher than the camera lenses. This design detail prevents the screen and lenses from touching the surface when the phone is placed on a flat surface or carried in a bag.

Currently, the product is only available in the Chinese market for 279 yuan. Ugreen has not yet made an official statement regarding whether this special case will be released in markets outside of China.
