Productive AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude are reaching an ever-widening user base across Turkey. Data shared by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) for 2026 shows that the interest of both individuals and institutions in these technologies has increased significantly.

The use of artificial intelligence in Türkiye has gained significant momentum in the last year, almost doubling. This rapid rise reveals how quickly digital transformation is being adopted both in daily life and in the business world.

Significant Increase in Individual Use

According to the results of TURKSTAT’s Household Information Technology Use Survey, the rate of individuals using productive artificial intelligence reached 37.6 percent in 2026. The previous year, this rate was recorded as 19.2 percent.

Significant differences in usage rates are noticeable among age groups. While 64.9 percent of individuals aged 16-24 prefer artificial intelligence tools, this rate remains at 5.1 percent in the 65-74 age group.

Education level also stands out as one of the key factors influencing usage habits. While the usage rate among higher education graduates is 62.7 percent, this rate drops to 8.5 percent among primary school graduates.

The difference in usage between genders is quite limited. According to 2026 data, 38.1 percent of women and 37.2 percent of men state that they use productive artificial intelligence tools.

The vast majority of individuals who do not use artificial intelligence say that they do not need these technologies. A 12.4% segment of non-users say they are unaware of the existence of artificial intelligence.

Artificial Intelligence Transformation in the Business World

The use of artificial intelligence in enterprises is also showing an increase parallel to individual use. The rate of enterprises benefiting from artificial intelligence technologies, which was 7.5% in 2025, rose to 14% in 2026.

Looking at it on a sectoral basis, telecommunications and information activities are at the top of the list with 63.7%. Publishing and content activities closely follow this area with 57.1%.

Companies prefer to use artificial intelligence most in marketing and sales processes. 51% of enterprises value this technology in sales-oriented activities, and 46.3% in R&D studies.

A large portion of businesses use open-source software to access artificial intelligence solutions. Open source usage stands out as the most common approach with 67.8%.

The biggest obstacle companies face in transitioning to artificial intelligence is stated as a lack of expertise. Currently, 72.3% of businesses that do not use this technology see the lack of workers with the necessary technical knowledge as the main problem.

Legal uncertainties, data security concerns, and high costs are among other significant obstacles facing companies. The rate of businesses planning to use artificial intelligence in the future is at 8.3%.
