Disney is making a strategic change to its content library, which it has kept exclusive to its streaming platform Disney+ since 2019. As part of this, with the Netflix Disney content deal , many series and films from Disney are gradually being added to the Netflix library.

While the company hasn’t abandoned its goal of strengthening its own platform, it’s taking a different approach to reach a wider audience with its content. This collaboration reveals Disney’s intention to use Netflix, which has 325 million subscribers, as a promotional tool.

Disney productions are returning to the Netflix library

Contrary to expectations, while no access to any Marvel production is given, the focus is more on Disney’s own brand-new productions. For example, the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series will be available to Netflix subscribers in two seasons starting October 4th.

The third season of the series will be available exclusively on Disney+ starting November 20th. The phenomenal Ice Age animated series will also be available on Netflix on October 4th with its 5 films.

It is stated that these series will remain available for a 3-month promotional period. Following this period, the sixth movie in the series will be released.

The crime drama Will Trent will be added to the platform in 4 seasons on November 3rd. The Shifting Gears sitcom series will be available in 2 seasons on December 1st.

The action drama series Tracker will also be available globally on Netflix in 3 seasons on February 26th for an extended period. These productions are seen as an important part of Disney’s strategy to reach a wide audience.

Future Plans and 2027 Vision

On the other hand, starting in early 2027, Walt Disney and Pixar productions such as the Oscar-winning animated production Soul, Elio, Raya and the Last Dragon will also be available to subscribers. Disney will thus be conducting an effective promotional campaign on Netflix before its upcoming new productions.

This strategic move clearly demonstrates Disney’s desire to reach a wider audience with its content. The transfer of well-known productions to Netflix proves that the competition between platforms has evolved to a new dimension.
