We Tested the Locally Produced Electric SANY Tractor! Heavy Vehicle with 636 kWh Battery in the Field

We tested the fully electric SANY tractor produced in Ankara in a mining area! Its 636 kWh battery, 500 km range, and savings information are in our video.

On a cement delivery journey from the powerful mining area in Kayseri to Tokat, we directly tested the fully electric SANY tractors and trucks produced in Türkiye (in Ankara) in the field. We are examining all the details of these new generation electric commercial vehicles, which provide both enormous fuel savings compared to classic internal combustion engines and offer zero emissions and high performance in heavy-duty working conditions.

The 636 kWh capacity LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery pack in the vehicle promises a range of approximately 450-500 km under heavy-duty working conditions. Equipped with an 800V high-voltage architecture, the electric tractor supports DC high-speed charging up to 400 kW thanks to its dual-sided charging socket and CCS2 support, reaching 100% charge from 20% in approximately 40-45 minutes.

Heavy Duty Test on Kayseri and Tokat Line: Real Consumption Data

In the driving experience conducted on the strong and rugged roads of the mining area, the quietness and vibration-free cabin comfort offered by the electric tractor are noteworthy. Producing an instantaneous peak torque of 1760 Nm and power up to 990 horsepower with its dual electric motors, the vehicle transmits its high traction power without being felt, even on steep inclines and in full-tonnage load transportation. Regenerative braking (energy recovery), which is activated via the electric axle system during driving, both reduces brake wear and directly contributes to the range.

When operational data is examined, it is seen that in similar conditions where diesel trucks consume 40-45 liters per 100 km, the fuel savings provided by the electric truck reach levels of 70% to 80%. Powering the vehicles with electricity from the company’s own solar and wind power sources further reduces costs, while lowering maintenance costs by approximately one-third. Therefore, it is projected that the investment will pay for itself within 2 to 3.5 years, depending on the intensity of use.

LFP Battery Safety and Alcohol Tester Equipment

LFP batteries, preferred for challenging climates and working environments, stand out with their thermal stability and shock resistance compared to NMC chemistry. In addition, safety measures such as 360-degree surround view cameras, aerodynamic lighting group, and integrated breathalyzer system that prevents the driver from starting the engine without passing the test, raise the standard in heavy vehicle operation.

How do you evaluate the transition from diesel to fully electric in heavy commercial transport and the potential savings on this scale? Could electric trucks become the standard in intercity freight transport in the near future?
