CD Projekt Red excited the gaming world with its announcements at Gamescom 2026. The eagerly awaited The Witcher 3 Remastered release date has been announced as September 29th.

This new version will be offered as a completely free upgrade for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S users who own the existing game. The game will also be available for the first time on Nintendo Switch 2 and Battle.net platforms on the same day.

New Features in The Witcher 3 Remastered

The development team announced that they have added many technical and gameplay improvements to the brand new 2015 game. These improvements include a smoother combat system and user interface innovations.

Players will encounter a completely revamped skill tree and an expanded photo mode. Additionally, new finishing moves and extensive graphical updates covering textures, lighting, and ray tracing technologies are included in the package.

CD Projekt Red not only announced the new version but also delivered another valuable surprise. Two expansion packs, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, are now free for all players starting today.

These expansion packs were released a year after the original game’s launch and added new areas that deepened the story. Now, players who don’t own this content can experience the full game without paying any extra price.

New Expansion Pack: Songs of the Past

In addition to the remastered version, a new expansion pack was announced that serves as a farewell to the series’ main character, Geralt of Rivia. This content, titled Songs of the Past, will be released in 2027.

This new expansion pack will open up a brand new region called Letten, which has its own unique identity and dark secrets. Players will fight previously unseen enemies and have the chance to use new weapon types.

According to current information, Songs of the Past is planned only for PC and Xbox Series consoles. However, it is stated that this may change as the release date approaches.

Following Geralt’s final adventure, attention will turn to The Witcher 4, expected to be released in 2028. The new game is expected to focus on Ciri, Geralt’s adopted daughter and another Witcher.
