A theft that caused a major stir in the retro gaming world has occurred. Roger Holler, who lives in Washington, had his rare Nintendo collection of over 860 modules, worth approximately $100,000 and assembled over 40 years, stolen by thieves who broke into his home.

A Lifetime’s Labor Lost in One Night

The world of collecting requires both great passion and significant patience. Roger Holler began this adventure with a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) given to him by his mother when he was now 11 years old. Over the past forty years, he has visited stores, secondhand markets, and game fairs, amassing an archive of over 860 games.

The market value of the collection is estimated to be between $50,000 and $100,000. Holler not only kept the games but also shared this passion with his children. His plan was to leave the archive to his grandchildren in the future or to use its increasing value to cover their education expenses.

Only Three Games Remained to Complete the Collection

One of the most tragic details of the collection is that only three games remained to complete the series. Holler, whose home was broken into while he was out of town with his family, was met with a devastating blow upon his return. The vast majority of the stolen games consisted of rare cartridges that are almost impossible to find today.

Police Investigation and Emotional Loss

Following the incident, Roger Holler reported the matter to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, initiating an official investigation, and contacted the insurance company. However, the emotional loss, far exceeding the monetary value, seems difficult to compensate for. Holler’s last statement that his father would forgive those responsible if the games were returned, but the unfortunate collector, due to his disappointment, says he no longer wants to collect anything.
