Range Rover officially announced its new electric model, Range Rover GT, which combines SUV comfort and grand tourer design.
Range Rover officially announced the Range Rover GT model, which will be the fifth member of its product family. The new model, which combines grand tourer body lines with SUV practicality and off-road capability, will primarily be sold entirely electric.
The interior of the GT, which is the first Range Rover to use the EMA platform, was also shown for the first time. Range Rover GT will not replace Velar and will be added to the existing product range as a new series.
Electric engine and new design concept
While the length of the new model approaches Range Rover Sport, it is positioned as the brand’s most car-like model to date, with its low nose structure and sloping roof line. The vehicle sits between a classic SUV and a luxury grand tourer.
The model, which increases the electric driving range thanks to its more aerodynamic body structure, also minimizes the wind noise reaching the cabin. Range Rover GT is described as the brand’s quietest model to date.

Although some off-road features are abandoned due to the lowered ride height, the vehicle is being developed to be used in light off-road conditions. The model is expected to be offered only with dual electric motors and four-wheel drive.

Prototypes are tested in different climates to ensure that they can operate at full performance at temperatures ranging from minus 40 degrees to 50 degrees. Global road tests have reached their final stage with prototypes featuring special camouflage coating.

Range Rover GT will be the first model to use the new EMA architecture developed by JLR. The platform was initially developed for electric vehicles but was later reconfigured to support different power systems.
GT will first go on sale with the battery electric vehicle option. A full hybrid engine option will also be added to the product range in the later stages of the model’s life cycle.
Production will take place at the Halewood factory in England. Range Rover GT will be produced at the same facility, along with other models with internal combustion engines and hybrid systems.
Simple and technological interior
The cabin of the Range Rover GT reflects the brand’s design approach, which is simple and free of unnecessary details. The high-positioned driver’s display is accompanied by a large central touch screen placed horizontally.

The ventilation outlet, which extends across the entire instrument panel, is hidden in the design. The front console, covered with woven fabric, also hides the speakers under its surface.
New materials other than leather will be used as standard in the cabin. To reduce visual and acoustic clutter, ornamental cuts, screens and physical controls were kept limited.
The gear selector was moved from the center console to a lever on the steering column. Air conditioning settings are placed directly on the central touch screen.
A new software that is completely different from the existing Range Rover models will be used in the vehicle. The interface will be organized so that basic functions can be accessed with fewer menu transitions.

Range Rover GT will be offered with two independent seats in the rear and a fixed center armrest as standard. The addition of the five-passenger classic rear seat option to the product range is also planned.
Thanks to the EMA platform’s special layout for electric vehicles, rear seat legroom will be at a similar level to that of the large Range Rover. Despite the sloping roof line, rear seat headroom and access space from the rear doors were kept wide.
