PlayStation 6 Performance Leaked: Twice as Fast as PS5

There are claims that the Sony PlayStation 6, with its AMD RDNA 5 architecture, could be twice as fast as the PS5. Here are the expected features of the new generation console.

Leaks about Sony’s next-generation gaming console, the PlayStation 6, are revealing striking details about the device’s hardware power. According to information shared by Moore’s Law Is Dead, the AMD RDNA 5 architecture to be used in the console’s graphics unit promises a significant performance increase.

Leaked data shows that the PlayStation 6 could perform more than twice as well as the current PlayStation 5 model. These estimates are based on a two-year-old document from AMD’s internal performance simulations.

Performance Increase with RDNA 5 Architecture

In an interview with Xbox expert Jez Corden on the Broken Silicon podcast, the source shared the simulation results of different hardware configurations planned for the PS6. Tests indicate that a configuration with 25% more bandwidth and 33% more processing units than the PS5 offers twice the performance.

The fact that this information is from two years ago suggests that the performance of the final console, expected to be released in 2027 or 2028, may differ. However, these leaks are consistent with previously revealed specifications.

According to information that emerged in September 2025, the PlayStation 6 is expected to be equipped with between 52 and 55 RDNA 5 processing units and up to 10 Zen 6 CPU cores. This system, which is predicted to offer 640 GB/s memory bandwidth, is claimed to provide 2.5 to 3 times the rasterization performance compared to the PS5.

Ray Tracing and Technical Comparison

It is assumed that the new generation console will reach a much more advanced level, especially in ray tracing. Arguments suggest that the PS6’s ray tracing performance could be 6 to 12 times higher than the PS5.

For comparison, the standard PlayStation 5 model operates with 36 RDNA 2 processing units, 8 Zen 2 cores, and 448 GB/s memory bandwidth. The PlayStation 5 Pro model, however, increases the number of processing units to 60 and the memory bandwidth to 576 GB/s while maintaining a similar core structure.
