New Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Introduced: 457 HP Hybrid Engine

The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 hybrid model, with its 457 horsepower, is the most powerful version in the series and is going on sale in Japan.

Toyota has updated its iconic SUV, the Land Cruiser 300, with a comprehensive update for the Japanese market. With this update, the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 hybrid version stands out as the most powerful model ever produced in the series.

At the heart of the innovations is a new hybrid powertrain that replaces the standard pure gasoline V6 engine and takes the vehicle to a higher level in terms of performance. This new system significantly increases the technical capabilities of the vehicle.

Powerful Hybrid Performance and Technical Details

At the heart of the new hybrid Land Cruiser 300 model is a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine integrated with an electric motor and a 10-speed automatic transmission. With the support of a compact 6.5 Ah battery located in the luggage compartment floor, the system produces a total of 457 horsepower and 790 Nm of torque.

Despite the switch to hybrid architecture, the vehicle does not compromise on its legendary off-road capabilities. The Land Cruiser 300 continues to maintain a water wading depth of 700 mm even under challenging conditions.

Safety measures were also not forgotten in the vehicle’s design, and it was ensured that the vehicle could continue its journey using only its internal combustion engine even in the event of a possible hybrid system failure. Due to the additional weight brought about by this hybrid system, the vehicle became 170 kg heavier in total, while the fuel tank capacity was reduced from 80 liters to 68 liters.

Equipment Options and Design Innovations

As part of the update, the pure gasoline 3.5-liter V6 engine option has been completely removed. For users who prefer a classic internal combustion engine, the only option left in the range is a 3.3-liter V6 diesel engine offering 307 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque.

The new Land Cruiser 300 is offered in three different trim levels in the Japanese market: GX, ZX, and GR Sport. The hybrid power unit is available from the mid-level ZX trim onwards.

In terms of exterior design, the hybrid versions are distinguished from their diesel counterparts by a redesigned front bumper. The optional Modellista styling package includes details such as an aerodynamic body kit, widened fenders, and side steps. This package also includes a new tailgate trim, roof spoiler, and 20-inch specially designed alloy wheels.

Pricing and Release Date

Sales of the refreshed model in Japan will begin on October 1st.

The price range for the basic diesel version starts at 6.3 million yen. Prices for the flagship GR Sport HEV hybrid version reach up to 10.2 million yen. What do you think of Toyota’s new hybrid initiative?
