The Motorola Razr Fold is back in the spotlight with concept drawings reportedly from the company’s design team. This new large-screen foldable phone aims to compete with rivals such as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and iPhone Duo.

Leaked information shows that Motorola is taking significant steps to expand its current foldable device family. Details in the concept drawings reveal that significant innovations are expected in the device’s design.

3D Glass and Frameless Screen Details in the Design

The words in the concept drawings indicate that Motorola will make significant changes to the outer screen design. In particular, the terms frameless and 3D glass suggest that the outer screen will have a more seamless surface.

It is noteworthy that this 3D glass term is positioned close to the cover screen associated with the Razr design. The design in question is thought to represent an approach similar to the curved screen edges of the Motorola Edge family.

The leaked design shows a difference in screen geometry from existing models. The combination of sharp left corners and rounded right edges aims to achieve a more bezel-less look.

This approach aligns with the goal of expanding the usable area of ​​the outer screen in foldable phones. Motorola may also use more prominent bezels to hide the harsh transitions in some parts of the screen.

Wrinkle-Free Screen and Technical Updates

Another important issue Motorola is focusing on is reducing the crease of the inner screen. In the documents, the goal is to design the larger Razr Fold model with a screen that is as wrinkle-free as possible.

The crease that appears in the hinge area of ​​​​foldable phones is one of the fundamental design problems that manufacturers have been trying to solve for a long time. Samsung and other competitors’ advancements in this area are making reducing screen creasing a critical competitive advantage for Motorola.

One of the elements supporting the leak is the visual watermark similarities in the World Power Consortium (WPC) registrations. The registration of the current Razr Fold seen in the WPC listing in April is similar to the markings in the new concept drawings.

A new WPC registration that recently surfaced points to a Verizon variant of the current Razr Fold. While the model number remains largely the same, the Verizon-specific “V” designation is noteworthy.

The new registration shows that the device has been upgraded to the Qi 2.2.1 standard for wireless charging. However, the absence of any indication of a built-in magnet suggests that a different approach might be taken for the magnetic accessory ecosystem.
