The planned changes to the Highway Traffic Regulations clarify many issues that drivers have been eagerly awaiting for a long time. The new regulation, prepared under the instructions of the Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi, offers valuable flexibility regarding the use of in-vehicle equipment.

Within the framework of the new rules, accessories frequently preferred by drivers in daily life gain legal status. These regulations, especially for devices that do not restrict the viewing angle, aim to eliminate the uncertainties experienced in traffic controls.

In-Car Accessories and Navigation Devices

With the regulation, phone holders and car mounted cameras on the windshield are now clearly exempt. Heights that do not exceed 5 centimeters from the highest level of the steering wheel or instrument panel are considered within the legal limit.

Navigation screens, parking aids and various recording devices used by drivers to support driving safety are also charged within this scope. In addition, the end of use of small accessories such as the fragrance hanging on the rearview mirror are placed on a clear basis. Multimedia screens integrated into vehicles from the factory can continue to be used without any penalty.

New Standards Are Coming to Sound Systems

The new regulation also includes technical details regarding audio systems in vehicles that are of great concern to music enthusiasts. Vehicles are legally allowed to have a maximum of 1 45 Hz subwoofer and a maximum of 1 300 watt amplifier in the trunk.

More concrete conditions are now required to process sound systems into a vehicle. If the sound extends beyond the vehicle and disturbs public peace, this violation must be recorded concretely. In this way, it is aimed to prevent drivers who have sound systems that comply with the standards from suffering.
