Arcade basketball game NBA The Run comes to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam platforms on June 9. Here are all the details about the game.
NBA The Run, developed by Play by Play Studios for players who miss the arcade style of the NBA Street series, will be released on June 9. The game’s development process is led by artist Mike Young, who worked on the original NBA Street series.
Unlike simulation-oriented productions such as NBA 2K26, NBA The Run focuses on 3v3 format matches and more active gameplay. Players complete a four-round Knockout Tournament in different venues around the world and participate in boss battle-like challenges in special final venues.
Game Modes and Content Details
There are three main modes in the production: Knockout Squads, Knockout Solos and Knockout Friends, where you can create special tournaments with your friends. Users can either choose fictional characters or take to the court with more than 30 real NBA stars such as Steph Curry, Luka Dončić, Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid.
The project, which started to be developed in 2024 under the name The Run: Got Next, took its current form after Play by Play Studios received the official NBA license. The production, which aims to meet the need for officially licensed arcade basketball games today, may be the beginning of a new era in this genre.
