New Era for WhatsApp Channels: Message Reply Feature Coming to Admins

New Era for WhatsApp Channels: Message Reply Feature Coming to Admins

WhatsApp is testing a new update for its Channels feature that allows administrators to reply to old messages by quoting them. This feature makes communication in channels more organized and understandable.

WhatsApp continues its innovations to improve user experience. The platform, which continues its activities under the umbrella of Meta, has started testing a critical update for the “Channels” feature, in which it has invested heavily recently.

With the release of WhatsApp beta 2.26.19.9 for Android, offered through the Google Play Beta Program, a new feature has emerged that allows channel managers to directly respond to the content they share. This feature aims to streamline the flow of information on channels and enable followers to better understand the content.

Before going into the details of the news, the prominent headlines are as follows:

  • Direct Reply:Channel managers can now send new messages by quoting their old posts.

  • Contextual Clarity:Thanks to the quoted messages, followers can instantly see what the new information is about.

  • Advanced Communication:Correcting misinformation or adding to a news becomes much easier and more professional.

Great Convenience for Channel Managers

When WhatsApp Channels were first introduced, administrators had to send a new message when they wanted to add a shared message or made a mistake.

However, this could cause confusion in the busy flow of the channel as to which topic the new message was related to. With the new update, administrators can now reply to a text, image or video they have previously shared by quoting it.

This system works just like in individual chats or groups. The administrator can make a new update by swiping the relevant message to the right or by pressing and holding it and using the “Reply” option. In this way, followers can see the original content quoted at the top of the screen and read the manager’s new statement right below.

No More Confusion in Communication: Context-Driven Updates

One of the biggest problems of the channels, “topic disconnection”, becomes a thing of the past thanks to this feature. For example, when a technology channel wants to share a new leak information after a launch news, it can quote the old news and write a note saying “There is a new development in addition to this news.” This provides a great advantage, especially for channels with high followers that share frequently.

Additionally, when incorrect information is shared or an announcement needs to be detailed, administrators can make corrections by referencing the old message. This is also very useful for followers; Because on a channel where thousands of messages are shared, you can look back and ask “What was this about?” They don’t have to ask.

When will it be available for general use?

This feature, which is currently only available to a certain segment of Android beta users, will be available for users all over the world after the testing phase is completed.

It is known that WhatsApp usually includes such features in the stable version after several weeks of testing. If you want to try this feature immediately, you can join the WhatsApp Beta program on the Google Play Store and check the 2.26.19.9 version.

These improvements of Meta on Channels once again show the platform’s determination to be not only a messaging application but also an effective broadcast and announcement tool.
