New Compact SUV from Dacia: Baby Duster on the Way

New Compact SUV from Dacia: Baby Duster on the Way

Dacia, Vehicle, Model, SUV

Dacia is working on a new compact SUV to position below its popular B-SUV model, the Duster. Known in the automotive world as the Dacia Baby Duster, this new model aims to expand the brand’s product range. The project is based on the Renault Bridger model, which Renault introduced as a concept in March. This new vehicle is planned to be sold under the Dacia brand in the European market.

Design and Technical Details

Still in the concept stage, the Bridger attracts attention with its muscular and upright silhouette reminiscent of off-road vehicles. The vehicle’s horizontal hood and obvious body defenses bear traces of Dacia’s new design language.

The spare tire hanging from the vertical tailgate in the concept version stands out as a detail reminiscent of the Suzuki Jimny. Although it lacks a four-wheel drive system, its 20 cm ground clearance provides an advantage in light off-road conditions.

The rising shoulder line towards the rear strengthens the design link of the vehicle to the Bigster model. These design choices indicate that the vehicle is suitable for both urban and light off-road use.

The French automotive magazine Auto Plus has prepared renderings of what the vehicle might look like based on the available information. These images provide valuable clues about how the vehicle will present itself with the Dacia identity.

Engine Options and Market Expectations

In order to keep costs low, the new compact SUV model is expected to use the three-cylinder engines familiar from the Sandero family. The 100 hp 1.0 TCe and 120 hp 1.2 Eco-G LPG units stand out among the options.

Although it is said that a hybrid engine option will not be included initially due to cost, high demand in Europe may change this. The model is planned to be positioned between the Sandero and Duster.

The Renault Bridger will be first launched in the Indian market at the end of next year. The European version with the Dacia logo is expected to hit the roads at the beginning of 2028.

The starting price is rumored to be between 17,000 and 18,000 euros. Although there is no official confirmation from Dacia yet, there is balanced information about the existence of the project in European sources.

The coming months will be decisive in clarifying the future and technical details of this new compact SUV project. Do you think Dacia’s new compact SUV model can succeed against iconic models like the Suzuki Jimny?

Dacia’s new compact SUV model, the Dacia Baby Duster, which will be positioned below the Duster, is preparing to hit the roads in early 2028.
