Mitsubishi’s highly anticipated new Pajero model will be introduced on September 2, 2026. All the details about the new generation off-road vehicle are in our news.
The launch date for Mitsubishi’s long-awaited new Pajero model has been clarified. According to information from dealers in Japan, the new generation Mitsubishi Pajero will be shown for the first time at a worldwide event on September 2, 2026.
This date does not represent the beginning of sales or deliveries. At the event, the vehicle’s exterior design, cabin, equipment levels and basic technical features will be shared with the public.
The new Mitsubishi Pajero will be introduced on September 2
Mitsubishi has previously confirmed that the new Pajero will be introduced in the autumn of 2026. The September 2 information is based on Best Car news based on Mitsubishi dealers in Japan.
According to the information provided by Best Car, a model that is very close to mass production will be exhibited at the event. While it is not yet known whether price information will be shared or not, pre-orders are not expected to open immediately after the promotion.

The new Pajero will rise on the ladder type chassis used in the Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck. Despite the common chassis, Mitsubishi developed Pajero’s cabin and suspension system specifically for the model.
This structure shows that the vehicle will return as a body-on-frame model suitable for off-road use, instead of an urban SUV with a monocoque body. It is expected that the low-ratio off-road transmission will be offered again in the new model.
Pajero will also come with Mitsubishi’s Super Select four-wheel drive system, which manages the traction system according to different ground conditions. All technical details of the engine and transmission system have not been disclosed yet.
Digital terrain indicator and new interior design
Promotional images released by Mitsubishi confirm that the triple terrain indicator used in older models will return in digital form. multimeterThe system called will show altitude, compass direction, outdoor temperature and vehicle inclination angles in real time.

The interior of the vehicle was briefly displayed in an image showing Mitsubishi’s Star Camp 2026 event. The images show light-colored seats, a cabin in black and beige colors, and stitched door coverings.
In the shared promotional images, there is a T-shaped light design consisting of vertical and horizontal lighting sections at the front of the vehicle. Although the new Pajero uses the same basic structure as the Triton, it will be distinguished by different front design, cabin and suspension.
Pajero will initially go on sale in Japan, Australia and other markets in Asia. It is not yet clear whether the model, previously sold under the name Montero in North America, will return to this market.
Production of the previous generation of Pajero ended in 2021. The model, which was produced in four generations for approximately 40 years, returns to the product range with its new generation after a break of approximately five years.
