Google is completely overhauling its popular AI tool Gemini app with a comprehensive visual redesign. After several months of development, details of the new interface have begun to emerge. This update, which has started to be tested with a limited group especially for iOS users, aims to make the user experience more modern and fluid.

This radical change to the Gemini app encompasses both aesthetic improvements and functional tweaks, demonstrating Google’s vision of building a more unified ecosystem of AI interfaces.

Modern Touches Stand Out in the Interface

One of the most striking features of the new design is the pill-shaped command box on the home page. While voice input and Gemini Live features are located on the right side of this box, access to a comprehensive menu is provided through the plus button added to the side. This new menu structure; It gathers tools such as photo gallery, camera access and file management in one place.

Additionally, in the Gemini application, tools such as Images, Videos, Music, Canvas, Deep Research and Guided Learning are presented in a list that users can easily access.

The new colorful and gradient effect background that greets users makes the interaction much more lively.

The welcome screen of the application also gets a personalized greeting. Google is moving the traditional model selector back to the upper left corner of the screen as a drop-down menu.

New icon sets spread throughout the interface offer a modern look with thinner and rounded lines. Gradient effects, especially used during chat, increase the visual depth of the application and provide a very aesthetic experience to the user.

System Improvements and Functional Changes Increase

The technical updates are not limited to visuals only. While the “See thinking steps” option is placed in the overflow menu on chat screens, the background processing processes of artificial intelligence can now be viewed in detail on a bottom sheet.
This move allows users to see more transparently how the system works. Additionally, Google’s move to move the account switcher under the navigation drawer marks a significant break in the design language the company has adopted for its own apps.

The new interface uses Liquid Glass technology effectively, especially on the iOS platform.

Already active in the Gemini for Mac app, this unified approach is gradually being ported to the Android and desktop web versions. Google aims to keep the home screen simpler, especially by gathering extensive file management and upload options in the submenu.
Although the application is currently being tested with a limited group of users, it is expected to become standard for all platforms in the future.
