Gemini Support Arrives in Chrome Android Version

Gemini Support Arrives in Chrome Android Version

Chrome is being updated with Gemini integration and automatic scanning feature. Details of the new features and device requirements are in our news.

Google is bringing the Gemini-supported automatic scanning feature, which it offers in the desktop version, to the mobile platform. Chrome Android version is now preparing to appear before users with a much deeper Gemini integration.

Currently, the Gemini interface on Android can communicate with Chrome with limited features such as page summarization. With the new update, the full Gemini experience is integrated directly into the browser, just like on iOS and desktop.

New Gemini Experience in the Browser

The new Gemini button, which will be located right next to the address bar, opens a subpanel included in the browser. Through this panel, users can ask questions about the current page, summarize the contents and get detailed explanations.

Gemini also supports actions like adding events to Google Calendar or saving recipe ingredients to Google Keep from within the browser. In addition, the system can scan information in Gmail and create infographics and visualizations thanks to Nano Banana integration.

The auto-browsing feature allows Gemini to scroll through web pages, tap buttons, and enter text. For example, you can reserve parking on SpotHero or update your pet food orders on Chewy using the details from your event ticket.

Security and Usability Details

When Gemini is active, a blue glow appears around the page and a circular indicator appears around the spark icon. Users can follow the status of the process on the panel or minimize the process and view it as a progress bar.

As part of security measures, user approval is required for sensitive steps such as purchases or social media sharing. This system always waits for manual approval before any transaction is completed.

The new features begin shipping to select devices with Android 12 or higher and at least 4GB of RAM in the US at the end of June. Automatic scanning capabilities are offered to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. How do you think these new features will change the mobile browser experience?
