Disney+ has acquired the global broadcast rights for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship races. Under this agreement, the platform becomes the new home for official events in over 140 regions worldwide.

Viewers in the United States will be able to follow the races on both Disney+ and ESPN+. The agreement also allows the racing league to maintain its broadcasting partnerships with local television channels in certain markets.

New period begins with the 2026/27 season

The broadcasting rights process will officially begin with the 2026/27 season. Disney+ plans to broadcast a total of 21 races across 13 different events, starting with the Saudi Arabian race on December 18th.

Other notable stops on the racing calendar include Miami, Monaco, and Mexico City. Formula E, which uses electric vehicles, has been held since 2014 and is steadily increasing in popularity.

Roku partnership ends

Roku, previously the main broadcaster of Formula E events, had also produced a special documentary series to promote the league. Apparently, this collaboration is ending following a new agreement with Disney.

Formula 1, on the other hand, has chosen a different strategy regarding broadcasting. Formula 1 ended its collaboration with Disney-owned ESPN and partnered with Apple for the official US broadcasting rights.
