The XPeng GX model attracts attention with its design similar to Range Rover Sport. The vehicle made a record start by receiving 24,863 orders in the first 12 hours.
Chinese car manufacturer XPeng made a rapid entry into the market with its new SUV model GX, positioned in the luxury segment. The vehicle, which draws attention with its similarity to the Range Rover Sport model with its design, achieved a significant success by receiving 24,863 orders in the first 12 hours after it was put on sale.
XPeng GX bears great similarities with the British luxury SUV icon Range Rover Sport, from its exterior appearance to its interior details. The general silhouette of the vehicle, headlight design, hidden door handles and bumper structure reflect Range Rover’s design language almost exactly.
This similarity is not limited to the exterior design only. The cockpit structure and the placement of the infotainment system also display a character reminiscent of Range Rover models.
Technical specifications and performance details
Despite the visual similarities, XPeng GX contains different technologies under the hood. The vehicle is offered to consumers with both pure electric (BEV) and range extender (EREV) powertrain systems.
While the fully electric version offers a range of up to 750 kilometers compared to the CLTC cycle, this price can go up to 1,585 kilometers in the version with range extender. XPeng GX meets performance expectations with engine options ranging from 367 to 585 horsepower.

Battery capacities were determined as 63.3 kWh in the EREV version, and 91.9 kWh and 110 kWh in the BEV versions. The vehicle, whose production officially started on May 20, attracts attention with its competitive price starting from 36,000 euros.
International attention and legal obstacles
XPeng GX attracts attention not only in the Chinese market but also internationally. More than 1,000 official purchase requests for the model were submitted, especially from Gulf countries.

Despite this, the vehicle is not expected to enter the European market due to obvious legal complications regarding intellectual property rights and design similarity. The design’s closeness to Range Rover creates an important constraint in the brand’s global expansion strategy.
