Huawei is bringing its ambitious mid-to-high-end series, launched in the Chinese market in early summer, to the global arena. Staying true to its tradition, the new Huawei Nova 16s and Nova 16s Pro models, entering the international market with the “s” suffix, have been officially announced. Despite their slim profiles, these two models stand out with their massive 7,000 mAh battery, and especially with their 200 MP RYYB main camera and ultra-bright OLED screen reaching 6,000 nits, they are setting new standards in their segment.

Raising the Bar in Camera Performance: 200 MP RYYB Sensor and Periscope Lens

The top model in the series, the Huawei Nova 16s Pro, directly challenges flagship models with its photography and image capabilities. On the back of the device is a 200 MP RYYB main camera sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS).

This sensor, which collects light much more efficiently than classic RGB arrays, is accompanied by a 1.5 MP multispectral color sensor that performs scene-specific color calibration.

Reaching 6,000 nits at peak brightness, this panel protects eye health with its 2,160 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming feature. The screen’s impact resistance is provided by Kunlun Glass with nano-crystal coating; This glass promises 10 times higher drop resistance compared to the previous generation.

The standard member of the family, the Nova 16s, targets users looking for a more compact phone. Featuring a 6.68-inch screen, the model maintains a 7.3 mm body thickness while retaining the 7,000 mAh battery and 100W SuperCharge Turbo support found in the Pro model. Adopting a “True-to-Colour” camera setup, the phone comes with a 50 MP main camera as well as a 50 MP RYYB periscope lens offering 3.3x optical zoom and OIS support.

The two models differ in hardware; the Nova 16s Pro is powered by the Kirin 9010S chipset, while the standard Nova 16s model features the Kirin 8020 processor.

Both devices come with the EMUI 16.0 interface for the global market and offer 256GB and 512GB storage options.
