This system, supported by innovative tools such as the Shorts flow scheduler, a first in the industry, aims to put young people’s online discovery processes in a safe framework.

Creating a Safe Exploration Area

YouTube supports children to consume content within strict limits and in a safe environment, rather than completely isolating them from the digital world. The newly launched supervised accounts actually constitute the most current link of the “family safety” vision that YouTube has been working on for many years.

The system allows families to filter content in three main categories:

1. Discover:Educational content includes basic content such as instructional images, handicrafts and dance images.

2. Discover More:In addition to the “Discover” category, it enables access to game footage and live broadcasts.

3. Most of YouTube:It makes a wide range of content accessible to children, excluding content aged 18 and over.

These settings work compatible with international content rating systems. Additionally, personalized ads are disabled in these accounts and the autoplay feature is turned off. In this way, children are prevented from being exposed to irrelevant or inappropriate content under the guidance of algorithms.

Special Timer for Shorts Flow

Short video streams are one of the areas where today’s young people spend the most time. At this point, YouTube is implementing the “Shorts stream scheduler”, which is the first in the department.
