Huawei brings full color projection and cinema features to cars with its XPixel smart headlight system. Here are the details of the new technology that will come with Aito M9.
Huawei takes automobile lighting technologies to the next level with its new XPixel smart headlight system. This technology turns headlights, which are standard safety equipment, into a full-color projection system that can play movies or project games.
The XPixel platform, introduced at the Beijing Auto Show, is the first system to offer full color projection in automobile headlights. This innovative system can project an image approximately 100 inches from the front of the vehicle onto any wall.
Technology that turns cars into open-air cinemas
XPixel represents a new phase of the high-resolution and pixel-controlled LED headlight platform that Huawei has been offering in monochrome form for nearly three years. The new generation system works integrated with Huawei’s adaptive lighting technology with full RGB output support.
The system is not only entertainment-oriented, but also includes features that increase driving safety. The headlight module can automatically change the color temperature to improve visibility in rainy or foggy weather.

Additionally, the system helps drivers by providing lighting effects that follow the slope of the road. The high-precision adaptive driving light system can precisely mask the light to avoid disturbing other road users.

Driving support light signals to establish silent communication with drivers and pedestrians are also among the capabilities of the system. Huawei offers this technology as a solution to automakers, not directly to consumers.
It will be used for the first time in the Aito M9 model
It has been confirmed that the full-color XPixel system will first be included in the new version of the Aito M9, the electric SUV model that Huawei has been developing since 2023.

Chinese electric vehicle brands are rapidly adopting such advanced lighting technologies, turning cars into infotainment surfaces.
Western manufacturers are taking a more cautious approach to adaptive driving lights, especially due to regulations in the US market. Huawei aims to speed up this process and make the headlights one of the most impressive parts of the vehicle.
