Google allows users to design their own custom widgets with the Gemini Intelligence-powered Create My Widget tool.
Google is taking a new step to make the Android ecosystem more personal. Using the Gemini Intelligence infrastructure, the Create My Widget tool allows users to create widgets specific to their needs.
This new feature enables users to design widgets by simply describing them, without needing complex software knowledge. This innovation, announced before Google I/O 2026, stands out as one of the most striking developments on the Android platform.
The era of personalized widgets begins
Although Android widgets have long provided quick access to information, they often fell within preset limits. Create My Widget eliminates these restrictions with the help of Gemini Intelligence and offers users the opportunity to produce their own solutions.
For example, it becomes quite easy to create a special tool to convert temperature units when traveling abroad. Users can ask Gemini to design the widget they want and edit the resulting result as they wish.
If Gemini’s first try doesn’t quite produce the desired result, users can make manual adjustments to perfect the widget. Google also makes the process easier by offering various categories and suggestions for users who don’t know where to start.
Create My Widget is powered by Gemini and Google Search data. However, since this system does not work directly with third-party application data, it does not currently seem possible to create a custom widget for, for example, a social media application.
When will it be available?
This new feature, supported by Gemini Intelligence, will be available first on Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices. Users will be able to access this innovation as of this summer.

Google also confirms that the use of widgets will not be limited to phones and tablets. New Googlebook laptops will also be among the platforms that support the Create My Widget feature.
What would a widget you designed according to your own needs look like on your home screen? What do you think about it?
