Xiaomi has discontinued software support for many devices, including the 12S Pro and Redmi Note 12R. The new EOL list is in our news.
Xiaomi has updated its list of devices for which it will end software support as of August 2026, announcing that many popular models will no longer receive HyperOS updates and security patches. Among the new devices added to Xiaomi’s EOL (End-of-Life) list are popular models such as the Xiaomi 12S Pro, Xiaomi 12 Lite, and Redmi Note 12R.
This development signifies the official end of the support process for these devices in terms of official software updates and security improvements. The company stated that it will not release a random new version for devices whose support period has expired, except for critical security vulnerabilities.
Models added to the list will now be deprived of the new generation HyperOS 4 updates.
Why is Software Support Ending?
Xiaomi provides software update support for its smart devices for a certain period. When this process is complete, the devices enter EOL status.
This status means that the device will continue to function hardware-wise, but will not receive new software features or updated security patches. The company continues to share information about devices that have reached the end of their support life in a transparent manner by making these updates at systematic intervals.
Which Devices Are Included in the Current List
According to the updated data, the following models have stopped receiving software support:
Users of one of these devices are advised to be particularly careful about security risks and to consider switching to a new model with ongoing update support if they want to use their devices long-term.
Xiaomi is preparing to make significant changes to its software ecosystem, especially with HyperOS 4 and Android 17-based updates.
Discontinuing security patches can leave your device vulnerable to newly emerging digital threats.
How to Choose a New Device
For users with a device whose support period has ended, the healthiest option is to switch to new generation models that promise five major Android updates.
Devices in Xiaomi’s new portfolio that offer long-term software support allow users to benefit from new features while maintaining their security at the highest level. In particular, the visual innovations and performance improvements brought by HyperOS 4 are a valuable motivation for switching to new devices.
