Digital Foundry, a reputable technical analysis group in the gaming world, shared a comprehensive assessment of GTA 6’s console performance. According to the analysis results, the biggest obstacle to achieving 60 FPS on current generation consoles, including the PlayStation 5 Pro, is processor bottleneck.
Processor Load Makes Achieving 60 FPS in GTA 6 Difficult
According to the assessments made by the Digital Foundry group, the performance limits of the game are determined more by the processor (CPU) than the graphics card. In the world of GTA 6, the intense vehicle traffic running simultaneously, advanced physics calculations, complex AI-powered NPC (in-game character) behaviors, and background simulation systems directly place a heavy load on the processor.
This situation prevents the frame rate from reaching 60 FPS on its own, regardless of how powerful the graphics processor is.
The Processor Difference Between PS5 and PS5 Pro is Insufficient
When comparing the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro models, although there is a significant leap in graphics, the performance increase in the processor is only around 10 percent. This limited increase is not enough to alleviate the load brought about by the simulation-heavy open-world mechanics and to exceed the 60 FPS threshold.
It is not yet certain whether Rockstar Games will offer two different graphics modes in the game, “Quality” and “Performance”. PS5 Pro Will Solve Image Problems with PSSR
