How Draft Message Notifications Work?
When users exit the application while typing text in a chat window, the WhatsApp system automatically saves this text as a draft. If the user remains on another screen for about a minute, the application sends an alert to the notification panel. This notification, sent under the title “Your draft message,” directly opens the relevant chat window, allowing the user to finish typing.
Different from Draft Labels in the Chat List
WhatsApp already has a labeling system that shows incomplete messages in the chat list. However, this new notification feature doesn’t require the app to be open. While labels in the chat list are only noticeable when the app is open, the new notifications directly guide the user even when outside the app, making the process more efficient.
Notifications Contribute to User Experience
This feature prevents incomplete conversations from being overlooked, especially during meetings or when a quick response is needed. Instead of users forgetting a message and noticing it hours later, a reminder arrives within a minute, allowing them to maintain communication without interruption.
