WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow you to synchronize chat themes and wallpapers with other users.
WhatsApp is working on a new chat theme synchronization feature that allows users to share their chosen customizations in individual and group chats with others. Currently under development in iOS beta version 26.37.10.16, this new feature allows users to synchronize wallpaper, theme, and bubble colors with other participants.
This feature, which is still under development, aims to provide a personalized experience by allowing users to share their preferred visual style with their chat partners. This feature, which is not yet open to general beta testing, is expected to be released to all users with future updates.
Chat Themes are Synchronized with Other Participants
The new theme categories that came with WhatsApp’s recent updates have made it easier for users to personalize their chat interfaces. However, in the current structure, these customizations remained only for the person who set them. The newly developed feature takes this personalization experience to the next level. Now, users can choose whether a theme change applies only to themselves or to the other party in the chat as well.
Flexibility Provided in Individual and Group Chats
This feature can be enabled in group chats as well as individual chats. Especially in groups that serve a common purpose, such as family groups or work teams, all members will be able to see the same visual theme. When a user selects a theme and synchronizes it for the group, the same wallpaper and bubble color will appear on all members’ screens. This will make intra-group interaction more aesthetic and holistic.
Custom Images and Colors Can Be Shared
The system is not limited to ready-made themes within the application. Users can also synchronize custom wallpapers they have selected from their own photo galleries with the other party. In addition, bubble colors that match the selected background will be automatically applied to both parties. This situation increases WhatsApp’s flexibility in interface design while empowering users to manage their own digital space.
Security and Privacy Standards are Protected
WhatsApp emphasizes that it has not compromised privacy while developing this new feature. All shared theme and image settings are protected with end-to-end encryption. This ensures that no data regarding which theme or photo has been shared can be viewed by the company. If a user shares a private photo from their gallery, that image remains protected under privacy regulations.
New Feature is Still Under Development
Currently being tested only on the iOS platform, this feature has not yet been made available to general beta testers. Although WhatsApp has not shared an official timeline regarding this, it is expected that this feature will reach all users with future updates. When a change is made, a system message will appear in the chat window indicating who updated the theme, and the other party can change the theme if they wish.
