WhatsApp Adds a New Contacts Tab to the Android Interface

WhatsApp Adds a New Contacts Tab to the Android Interface

WhatsApp is continuing to test a new People tab for its Android app that will make it easier to see active individuals. Here are all the details about the navigation updates.

WhatsApp continues to improve its interface for Android users and plans to add a new ‘Contacts’ tab in the bottom navigation bar. This new feature aims to allow users to easily view individuals who are active or recently online from a single center. This project, which is in development, marks a significant change in the navigation strategy of the application. WhatsApp aims to simplify the interface so that users can reach the individuals they want to connect with more quickly. For the integration of this new tab, the company is considering removing the existing Meta AI tab in the navigation bar or changing the order of other tabs.

  • WhatsApp is working on a new People tab that will allow users to see active and online individuals.
  • The new feature aims to provide faster access in the bottom navigation bar of the application.
  • Removing the Meta AI tab or rearranging the existing navigation structure are among the options.
  • The update in question is currently in the development phase and has not even been released to beta users.

This attack is a module of WhatsApp’s strategy to transform the user experience into a more focused and faster connection platform.

Active Contacts Viewing Feature is Being Developed

WhatsApp is building a center that will allow users to quickly understand who is online at the moment. This feature will provide great convenience, especially for users with heavy messaging traffic. Users will be able to list people who are online as well as those who have been active recently. However, users who do not share their last seen and online status in their privacy settings will not be included in this list.

Navigation Structure Is Being Reshaped

WhatsApp is making various experiments to use the bottom navigation bar more efficiently. Removing the Meta AI tab may make room for the new Personas tab to be added. The company is also testing different interface improvements, such as moving status updates to the top of the chat list so that users can manage updates and chats more easily. This design change aims to provide a similar user experience to the stories section on Instagram.

Editing Chat List with Channel Filters

The app is working on new filters to separate channels to reduce clutter in the chat list. These filters will allow followed channels to be viewed in a different area than individual chats. In this way, users will not lose their private conversations while following current content.

Such structural changes indicate a complete renewal of the navigation strategy.

These fundamental changes made by WhatsApp in the interface aim to clearly separate individual communication and content consumption.

Testing Processes Now Continue

The People tab is currently only in development and is not yet available for public use or beta testing. WhatsApp is trying to create the most ideal navigation model by analyzing user feedback and interface usage information. Whether this feature will come to stable versions in the coming months will depend on the results of the tests.
