Design details of the new generation Kia Sportage have begun to surface thanks to camouflaged prototypes being tested on the roads. The French publication Auto-Moto has prepared rendered images based on these spy photos, giving valuable clues about the vehicle’s final appearance.

In contrast to the complex, curved structure of the current generation, the new model appears to have flatter and more angular edges. This change shows that the familiar SUV model is getting closer to Kia’s new electric vehicle series in terms of design.

This new design language from Kia does not mean that the vehicle will be completely electric. On the contrary, it is claimed that the familiar SUV model will continue with internal combustion engine options.

New Design Philosophy and Visual Details

The most obvious change expected at the front of the vehicle is the vertically positioned daytime running lights. These headlights exhibit a structure that extends from the edge of the hood to the lower part of the bumper.

The slim main headlights, with their horizontal placement, add a contemporary feel to the design. In internal combustion engine versions, a large radiator grille will continue to be located between these headlights.

A similar design language is adopted in the side profile, and the wide cladding extending along the wheel arches and side skirts is striking. The almost vertically positioned rear pillar gives the vehicle a more classic SUV look.

It should be noted that due to heavy camouflage, details such as the body panels and lighting group may differ in the final production version. Render images are currently only an indication.

Engine Options and Launch Schedule

The current fifth-generation Kia Sportage was introduced in 2021 and subsequently underwent a comprehensive facelift. The appearance of new prototypes on the roads proves that the brand is accelerating its work on the next generation.

The company has not yet made an official statement about the design, technical specifications, or launch date. However, it is claimed that the new Sportage will continue with gasoline and hybrid engine options.

Although details about the engine range are quite limited for now, the vehicle is expected to be introduced in 2027. If this timeline is realized, it seems possible that the new model will be unveiled at the Munich Motor Show.
