The Ask Maps system, eagerly awaited by Google Maps users, was initially only available to users in the US. Today, this feature is globally available in over 150 countries.

Currently, the system only supports the English language. With this new feature, users can ask complex questions to the map application and create detailed routes with written commands.

Google Maps is powered by a new system called Personal Intelligence. This technology allows the system to personalize responses by communicating with Gmail. The system can now remember past conversations and provide more balanced results based on users’ past preferences. Additionally, processes such as ordering food and making hotel reservations in supported areas can be done directly through the application.

Ask Maps keeps users’ transportation plans up-to-date by pulling real-time information from public transportation systems. These features take the map application beyond just a navigation tool to the level of a personal assistant.
