Steam Deck Breaks Record: Game Support Surprises

The number of games compatible with Steam Deck has exceeded 30,000. New information and details in the Verified and Playable categories are in our news.

Valve’s Steam Deck and SteamOS ecosystem continues to expand. According to the latest information, the number of Steam Deck compatible games has surpassed the 30,000 mark, reaching a significant milestone.

The numbers shared via SteamDB reveal the scope of support Valve offers for its portable gaming device. Users can now access a much wider range of games.

Steam Deck compatibility data

According to current data, 21,078 games are currently listed as Steam Deck Playable, and 8,975 games are listed as Steam Deck Verified. The sum of these two categories proves that the number of games supported by the device exceeds 30,000.

Verified tag indicates that the games fully meet Valve’s criteria on the Steam Deck. These games can run directly without requiring any additional settings.

Games in the Playable category, while running on the device, may require some additional processes. These processes include details such as controller configuration or launcher usage.

On the other side of the list, unsupported games stand out. Currently, there are 6,846 Steam Deck Unsupported and 4,494 SteamOS Unsupported game records.

Valve continues to systematically test games in the Steam library. Current compatibility ratings are also updated in line with these testing processes.

Popular Games Situation

Data shared by ProtonDB sheds light on the performance of the most popular games on the device. 46% of the top 100 games with the highest number of concurrent players on Steam can be played on Steam Deck.

15% of this popular game group are in the Verified category, and 31% are in the Playable category. The percentage of unsupported games remains at 19%.

Steam Deck compatibility is not determined solely by whether the game opens via Proton. The evaluation process includes quite comprehensive criteria to maximize the performance users will get from the device.

Controller support and text readability are among the most important of these criteria. In addition, default graphics settings and screen resolution also play an important role in the tests.

Third-party launchers and middleware are also among the elements affecting the compatibility process. The existence of anti-cheat systems and the technical infrastructure of games directly determine the functioning of the games.

Valve constantly updates these tests to improve the user experience. Collaborations with developers and community feedback contribute to the steady growth of the compatibility list.

In the portable gaming world, this kind of library support directly increases the device’s desirability and user satisfaction. Users can experience a large portion of the games in the extensive Steam libraries on their devices without any problems.

The SteamOS ecosystem is enriched with more games every day, offering users more options. This expansion also takes the competition in the handheld console market to a different level, resulting in outcomes that benefit users.

How do you think Steam Deck’s extensive game library influences your handheld console choices?
