Standards are changing much faster in the world of electric cars. This time, I’m here with the fully electric GLC, one of the first and most striking representatives of Mercedes-Benz’s third-generation electric architecture, which I spent more than a week behind the wheel of. This massive SUV, priced at around 7 million TL in the Turkish market, seems likely to be talked about not only for its technical data but also for the daily life experience it offers.

800 Volt Architecture and Star Details in Design
The biggest innovation on the technical side of the car is undoubtedly its transition to an 800-volt architecture. Thanks to this, much higher charging speeds can be achieved with lower currents. Supporting a peak charging power of 330 kW, the vehicle has many advantages, from cable thickness to heat management. At a suitable DC charging station, you can go from 10% to 80% charge in just 22 minutes. In terms of design, the front grille, illuminated by approximately 900 LEDs, and the Mercedes star-lighting units, the brand’s hallmark, offer an incredible shaped visual spectacle, especially during night driving.

In terms of driving comfort, the vehicle is truly groundbreaking. Despite having massive 21-inch wheels, thanks to its air suspension system, you travel as if you’re gliding in a boat. Producing a total of 489 horsepower with its dual-motor configuration, the GLC doesn’t compromise on performance even on steep 15% inclines. Having tested the vehicle on the toughest village roads and steep climbs of Sakarya, its high torque and sound insulation make long journeys incredibly enjoyable.

Interior Technologies and Living Space
Stepping inside the cabin, we are greeted by an edge-to-edge screen architecture and ambient lighting offering 64 different color options. The independent luggage compartment at the front provides quite practical storage space for daily use, while the climate control and ample legroom in the rear offer comfort comparable to a luxury executive car. Details such as the sky-dimming glass roof technology (Sky Control) that allows you to observe the sky and the rear wheel steering system that opens up to 2.5 degrees make city driving and parking extremely easy.

During my long and detailed week-long test drive, I evaluated all the pros and cons of the vehicle for you. Although the high tax brackets and price tag raise some questions, the technology, comfort, and driving experience it offers significantly raise the bar in the electric car market.
