Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Model Revealed

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Model Revealed

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide mock-up images have been leaked. The new shorter device was displayed next to the standard model.

Samsung’s foldable smartphone lineup is set to expand with a new, mainstream form factor for the first time in years.

New dummy leaks that have recently emerged reveal how radically the “Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide” model, which will join the series as a second book-style option, will differ from the standard version.

Design Details: Shorter and Wider

This new model, whose name is thought to be “Wide”, represents a huge change for the Fold series. Previous leaks have repeatedly shown how this new form factor will differ from the existing design, with its 4:3 internal display and much larger outer panel reminiscent of the original Google Pixel Fold. On the other hand, no major changes are expected in the design of the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 model.

So why is Samsung taking such a path? The general opinion in the industry is that with this new large design, the company is trying to catch up early with the first foldable iPhone model that Apple is expected to launch, and even to get ahead of it in terms of design.

What Do Leaked Images Tell Us?

Although the dimensions tell us how different this new design will be, sometimes a photo is worth a thousand words. Famous leaker Sonny Dickson shared images of mock-ups claimed to belong to the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 “Wide” models via X.

These photos showing the devices side by side prove how different the “Wide” model is from the standard version. While the standard Fold model maintains its vertical and elongated structure that we are accustomed to; The Wide model has a much wider and shorter structure. In fact, considering that the standard Fold is the size of a normal smartphone, it feels like the space occupied by the Wide model does not make a huge difference from the Flip 8.

Another striking detail is that there are magnetic rings on the models that indicate wireless charging hardware. While these rings have generated excitement in the past about the future of the Qi2 magnetic charging standard, Samsung seems to remain reluctant to fully embrace this industry standard. The company is likely to continue its closed ecosystem approach to wireless charging and accessory compatibility.

Expected Launch Date

Samsung is expected to launch these two Fold models with different designs, side by side, on the same stage. According to the latest reports from the industry, the highly anticipated new Galaxy Z foldable phone series will be officially introduced on July 22, 2026.

So, what do you think about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 “Wide” model, which has this shorter and wider form factor that resembles Samsung’s original Pixel Fold? Do you prefer the slim and tall structure of the standard Fold or the larger outer screen of the new “Wide” model? Don’t forget to express your ideas in the comments!
