PUBG Prepares to Remove Weapons – Refunds Will Be Given

PUBG is removing some weapons to ensure in-game balance. The new compensation system and refund details developed to protect the rights of the players are in our news.

PUBG: Battlegrounds, one of the pioneers of the battle royale genre, is preparing to make a radical change that will shape the future of the game. Developer team Krafton plans to completely remove some weapons from the game in order to solve the game’s long-standing balancing problems and make the player experience smoother.

However, in this process, the “Weapon Removal Compensation System” comes into play in order to protect the players’ efforts and investments. This new mechanism aims to prevent players who have special skins or improvements for the removed weapons in their inventory from losing rights.

  • Krafton plans to remove some underused or overpowered weapons from the inventory in order to maintain in-game balance and refresh the “meta”.

  • With the compensation system developed for removed weapons, players are offered in-game currency (G-Coin) or similar rewards based on the value of the cosmetic items they own.

  • This move is seen as part of a wide-ranging strategy that aims to lighten the game’s technical infrastructure and make room for new weapons.

Why Is the Weapons Pool Shrinking?

PUBG has incorporated dozens of different weapons and equipment since its launch. However, over the years, some weapons began to be almost never preferred by players, while others gained an unbalanced advantage on certain maps. According to Krafton’s latest reports, these “excesses” need to be cleaned up to reduce complexity in the game’s code structure and improve server performance.

Developers state that with each new weapon added, the game’s learning curve becomes steeper and the loot balance is disrupted. Removing certain weapons allows players to access higher quality equipment faster, while also making combat mechanics more predictable. This helps create a more fair environment, especially in the professional arena and competitive mode.

How Will the Compensation System Work?

The biggest concern of many players was the fate of the weapon skins they had acquired by spending real money or a lot of effort. Krafton follows a very sensitive path in this regard. If a weapon in your inventory is removed from the game, the system automatically calculates the rarity level and market value of this item.

Compensation options available to players include:

  • G-Coin Refunds:Refund of in-game currency equivalent to the value of the special skins removed.

  • Equivalent Cosmetic Exchange:The right to choose a high-quality coating designed specifically for another weapon of a similar class.

  • Special Collector’s Pieces:Non-recoverable profile logos or clothing sets that will only be given to those involved in the process.

Thanks to this system, the collection you have accumulated over the years is prevented from suddenly becoming trash. Krafton plans to manage this transition process by staying in constant communication with the players.

The Future of the Game and Preparation for the New Meta

Removing weapons is not just a cleansing operation, it is also the beginning of a new era. Krafton talks about major innovations such as game engine updates and destructible environmental elements in its 2024 and 2025 projections. Clearing unnecessary data from the system allows such innovations that require high processing power to operate more stable.

It is also among the information that the removed weapons may return in the future through “event modes” or “limited time maps”. So even if a weapon disappears from the main game, it may not become completely history. This strategy aims to excite the loyal player base while keeping the game fresh.

What Awaits the Players?

These changes are expected to be tested on test servers first. Although it has not yet been officially announced which weapons are at the top of the list, it is said that pistols and some shotgun models, which have a low usage rate among the community, are the first candidates. In this process, Krafton collects player feedback and analyzes which compensation method is more preferred.

As a result, PUBG: Battlegrounds is changing its shell to offer a more refined and modern battle royale experience. It seems that the protection of valuable items in your inventory will make this radical decision easier to accept by the community.
