Nintendo Switch 2 Price Increase: Here’s the New Price

The Nintendo Switch 2 price increase came into effect on September 1st. Check out the new console prices and bundle options in the US and Europe.

The Nintendo Switch 2 price increase officially went into effect worldwide on September 1st. With this development, Nintendo updated the console’s sales figures upwards in both the US and European markets.

As part of its new pricing strategy announced in May, the company increased the recommended retail price of the console in the US from $449.99 to $499.99. Thus, the Switch 2’s price has increased by approximately $50, about 15 months after its release.

Current Figures in the US and European Markets

The new increase represents approximately an 11.1% change when calculated based on the US price. Nintendo cited various changes in market conditions as the primary reason behind this price increase.

The company refrained from providing a more detailed explanation of which items contributed to the increase in costs. Moreover, Nintendo stated that it expects these market conditions to continue in the medium to long term.

The price change was also implemented simultaneously in Europe. The price of the Switch 2 in Nintendo’s My Nintendo Store increased from €469.99 to €499.99.

The new pricing policy is not directly affected only the main console but also the exclusive console bundles. The price of the Mario Kart World bundle was updated to $549.99, while the Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle reached $529.99.

Will Price Changes Continue in the Future?

Nintendo’s new pricing strategy offers a valuable indicator of how console costs are shaped in the gaming world. The company appears to have taken a strategic step by deciding to reflect the challenges of the current economic environment in its prices.

On the other hand, it is not yet clear whether the new prices will be applied equally in all global markets. Time will tell whether Nintendo will make further price changes in different regions in the future.

This cost-focused approach of the company raises various questions among gamers about the long-term accessibility of the console. While Nintendo did not share further details on the matter, it only stated that it will continue to closely monitor market dynamics.

How do you think this new pricing policy implemented by Nintendo will affect the sales figures of the console?
